League Format: Warm-up / Practice slides and Throws / Drills / Games

Instructors will help novice and experienced youth curlers, explaining the game, various drills to improve deliveries and instruction during ends of play.

Mini bonspiels (tournaments) on Saturdays are held monthly where participants can form teams and curl against other curlers from other Central Island curling clubs in either a Novice or Experienced Division.

We are always looking for new curlers at the Parksville Curling Club. Join us!

Footwear and Clothing: You must bring CLEAN, flat rubber-soled running shoes, that are CARRIED TO THE RINK. Also bring comfortable/warm clothing (sweatpants, stretchy pants or track pants are best) and wear layers. It's cold, until you're sweeping and then you'll be hot...

Note: You will not be permitted on the ice with shoes that have been worn to the rink.

Equipment: It is not necessary to purchase any equipment for the beginner curler as we have step-on sliders, brooms, stabilizers and grippers available. We have a limited selection of curling shoes, depending on size, that may be available.

Slip-on grippers, sliders, curling shoes and brooms can be purchased from the Parksville Curling Club Pro Shop. Should you decide to purchase your own gripper and slider, be sure to bring with you the footwear you plan to use as important to guarantee a tight fit.

Safety Note: Curlers under 11 years old are REQUIRED to wear helmets, and we recommend that all curlers wear a helmet all times on ice. You can wear a bicycle, snowboard or ski helmet and the Pro Shop also has some head protection options.
