PCMCA - Pacific Coast Masters Curling Association

New: Information regarding the PCMCA and the BCIMCA combined playdowns in Vernon March 2024 is available here.

The PCMCA works together with the BCIMCA (BC Interior Masters Curling Association) to support and promote Masters club curling throughout the province. The PCMCA has for many years provided support to clubs to advertise and promote Masters bonspiels and developed competitions known as the Guy Philps Trophy for male curlers 60 years and older, and the Graham Donaldson Trophy for male curlers 70 years and older.

The Combined Provincial Playoffs, held in March of each year, have been expanded to include Mixed and Women’s competitions.

PCMCA competitions have been developed to give ALL 60+ regular club curlers, including stick curlers, an opportunity to compete against Masters curlers from all parts of the province at the Provincial Combined Playoffs.

The cost of participating in these competitions is considerably less than Curl BC playdowns and some financial support is provided to PCMCA members to assist with the expenses of zone winners to the Provincial Combined Playoffs.  Provincial playoffs are hosted in alternate years by each association.

For information about registering for the PCMCA Zone playdowns, watch for posted information on the bulletin board at the club and/or visit the PCMCA website Events Calendar (www.pcmca.ca).

Background:

The PCMCA is divided into 4 Zones (Southern Vancouver Island, Vancouver Island from Nanaimo north, Lower Mainland, and Fraser Valley). Teams from all clubs are invited each November to register teams at the club level to compete in the Zone playoffs held in February. A winner from each Zone in each category is declared to compete at the provincial level against teams from each zone in the PCMCA and BCIMCA. At the Provincial Combined Playoffs, results from games played between PCMCA Zone winners determine the PCMCA Trophy winners. Results from games played against teams from each of the four BCIMCA Zones are used to determine and overall provincial champion in each category.
